Why should I take online CME or CE courses?
Online continuing medical education offers you a lot of flexibility in completing your education requirements. You can enroll in courses of your choice and complete them whenever you want, wherever you want. If you have a computer or a Web-enabled mobile device and access to the Internet, you can take a course. Online education also saves you of time and money because you don?t have to travel to live meetings. Also, you can complete online courses on your own schedule. As long as you complete a course before the credit expiration date, you can take the course as your time permits. If you don?t have time to view an entire course at once, most courses are divided into chapters so you can view them in shorter periods of time. Once you are enrolled in a course, you can return to that course as often as you wish. Just make sure to complete the requirements to claim your credit certificate before the expiration date.

How do I access the video(s) for a course I’ve enrolled in?
When you are logged in and enroll in a course for the first time, you will be connected to the course access page. If this is a video course, a menu bar will allow you to select each chapter. At the end of each chapter of the video, you can select the next chapter from the same menu bar at the top. When you return to this course again, you can either select the link from your MyCourses page or select the course from the course listings. As long as you log in with your same user name, you will not have to re-enroll in a course.
Do I have to watch the entire video course at once?
No. Each course is divided into chapters so it is easier to watch in manageable increments. If you stop within a chapter, you can use the player controls to go back to where you left off. You can return to a course whenever you have time. However, take note of the expiration date of each program. Although you can return to view the video, you cannot claim any CME or CE credit after the expiration date of the accreditation.
What are the software requirements for viewing pdf courses?
Some courses are presented in pdf (portable document format) files. This provides the equivalent of a printed document that is visible on all computers. You will need Adobe Acrobat Reader (click here to download) if you do not already have it installed on your computer. When you access course content in a pdf file, it will download to your computer. You may select where that file is saved. Then you may read the material on your screen through Acrobat Reader or you may print it to read in hard copy.
Can I return at another time to complete the post-test and/or CME evaluation?
After you have watched the video, you may return to complete the post-test at another time. But, if you begin to take the post-test and leave the site, your answers will not be saved and you will have to begin the test again to claim credit. You can take the test at any time during the accreditation period. Through your MyCourses link, you will quickly see a list of the courses you are enrolled in as well as the whether or not you have passed the test.
How do I get my credit certificate?
Once you have successfully completed the post-test for a course, your credit certificate will be available immediately at your MyCourses page.
What is a passing score on the post-test?
The specific score required for credit is indicated for each course. For most courses, a score of 70% or 75% is required to pass the test.
What happens if I fail the post-test?
If you do not complete the post-test with the required passing score, you may retake the test. You may wish to re-review portions of the course content to ensure that you have learned the required material. Many courses have a limit on the number of times you may attempt to pass the post-test, most often the limit is 3 attempts. This is to promote learning and not passing the test through guessing without properly reviewing the content. For CE courses, this test attempt limit is required.
Why do I have to complete a course evaluation at the end of the post-test?
The ACCME requires that all CME providers evaluate the effectiveness of CME activities. Therefore, all CME courses include a required course evaluation form. Different accredited providers may have different formats or questions, but all of these forms are designed to gather feedback on the effectiveness of the course in providing educational material that meets the learning objectives. Since this evaluation is required, you will not receive the CME certificate until the evaluation is completed.
